Finding Flight: Arm Balance Workshop

Arm balances are often misunderstood as being only about upper-body strength. In truth, they are a marriage of strength, openness, courage, and focus — and an opportunity to meet ourselves at the edge of what feels possible.

In this two-hour workshop, we will take time to warm the body and awaken the key areas needed for flight: the core, the wrists, the hips, and the spine. Through thoughtful drills, we will build strength and mobility step by step, so that by the time we approach our peak poses — crow, firefly, and flying splits — the body feels prepared, steady, and safe. Blocks and variations will support every level, offering ways to explore these shapes whether it’s your first time balancing on your hands or you’re refining your practice.

But this journey is more than technique. Arm balances are teachers of the spirit. They ask us to:

Face Fear: In crow, we learn to trust ourselves as we lean forward into the unknown, discovering that falling can be part of flying.

Embrace Transformation: In firefly, we expand, open, and shine light into places we may resist — embodying both strength and surrender.

Step Into Possibility: In flying splits, we reach boldly outward, integrating stability with freedom, teaching us that true flight comes from inner balance.

This workshop will give you the tools to approach these arm balances with confidence — blending practical preparation with the deeper awareness that strength and softness are always meant to work together.
